AHIP members honored for their disability inclusion
Twelve AHIP members earned spots on the recently released 2020 Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion list. The Disability Equality Index list highlights companies that have invested in accessibility and inclusion throughout their organization.
The upcoming 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disability Act on July 26 underscores the importance of creating an inclusive work environment. AHIP members are committed to building accessible and inclusive workplaces that allow all employees to thrive.
Kaiser Permanente, for example, operates KPability, a business resource group for employees with disabilities and their advocates. KPability has over 800 members and gives employees a platform to drive positive change with the disability community as well as offer support through networking and professional development.
Cigna’s commitment to disability inclusion includes the employee group People with Different Abilities, which works to remove any stigmas associated with disabilities and make Cigna a welcoming work environment.
Centene has also dedicated resources to ensuring disability inclusion, launching a National Disability Advisory Council in 2012. The Council provides best practices and a strategic vision that help inform Centene’s disability policies.
The Disability Equality Index is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities, the nation’s largest disability rights organization, and Disability:IN, a national business-to-business network.
