AHIP 2024 is taking over the Wynn Las Vegas, June 11-13, 2024, and hundreds of America’s most influential policy leaders, business innovators, industry executives, and media across the health care industry will come together to hear from the biggest changemakers and make the relationships that matter most.

Ahead of the event, AHIP surveyed 21 health care influencers to get a pulse on what emerging trends and innovations they were most looking forward to exploring further at AHIP 2024.

Here’s what they had to say.

Decoding AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to be the top emerging trend and innovation of interest. Nearly 80% of those surveyed mentioned AI as a topic they hope to hear more about on the AHIP 2024 stage — everything from “utilization of AI to remove friction from the consumer and provider experience” to the “application of AI in the health care payer domain.”

Luckily for these attendees, AI will be a hot topic at AHIP 2024, and all aspects of the still-emerging technology as it pertains to health care will be covered in several concurrent sessions over the course of the three-day event.

For a broader overview, attendees will want to make sure to get a seat to the Thursday keynote session — “The Promise of AI in Health Care,” featuring Microsoft’s Global Chief Medical Officer & VP of Healthcare Dr. David C. Rhew; National AI Advisory Committee Chair and EqualAI’s President and CEO Miriam Vogel; and Elevance Health’s Chief AI Officer Shawn Wang.

Momentum for Health Equity

Almost half of the survey respondents said they hoped to learn more about innovations, technologies, and practices to improve health equity. Concurrent sessions presented by Aeroflow Health, Omada, Ovia Health, Personify Health, and Sagility will cover strategies and technology-led approaches to advance health equity initiatives.

One of the leading voices on health equity, AHIP’s Senior Vice President & Chief Health Equity Officer Dr. LaShawn McIver, will take to the AHIP 2024 stage on Tuesday afternoon for a deeper discussion on “Building an Equitable Health Landscape.”

Similarly, the program features several sessions covering social determinants of health, including homelessness and lack of access to quality food. Wednesday’s Lunch & Learn session presented by Mom’s Meals will dive deeper into Food as Medicine initiatives. An Influencer Series on Thursday will feature a session titled “Housing is Health Care: Meeting People Where They Are.”

Containing Costs

Several survey respondents said they wanted to learn more about improving access and affordability of health care, including new care models, emerging therapies, and medications such as GLP-1 drugs. Wednesday morning’s keynote session features an all-star panel of four medical experts who will discuss how GLP-1 drugs represent a paradigm shift in obesity prevention and treatment.
