AHIP’s Matt Eyles Discusses the Value of MA on America’s Physician Groups Podcast

Washington, D.C. – More than 26 million seniors choose Medicare Advantage (MA) because it provides better value and benefits than traditional Medicare, AHIP President and CEO Matt Eyles said on America’s Physician Groups’ podcast, APG on American Healthcare.

MA highlights the benefits of partnerships and collaboration to provide better outcomes at lower costs, Eyles said, and the COVID-19 crisis has underscored how valuable the program is. MA can also be an important driver in improving health equity, which Eyles said is probably the biggest issue facing health care today.

MA has strong bipartisan support because it is a prime example of the government and free market working together to deliver lower costs, more choices, and better outcomes for the American people. MA plans in 2021, for example, will deliver basic Medicare benefits at 87% of the cost of the traditional Medicare program.

Eyles also touched on the importance of moving toward value-based health care arrangements, which are capable of delivering the highest quality care at the lowest cost. The health care sector will likely see an acceleration in these models as the COVID-19 crisis recedes, he said.
