The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) today released the Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability: Patient Engagement, Information Sharing, and Public Health Interoperability (HTI-2) proposed rule.
AHIP appreciates that ONC’s proposed rule includes requirements for aligning health plans, providers and health IT developers in the implementation of electronic prior authorization. Electronic prior authorization can help ensure patients receive safe, evidence-based care, while reducing decision times and administrative burdens on providers and plans.
AHIP will continue to review the proposed rule, including proposed payer certification standards, particularly as plans are not subject to the requirements of the ONC certification program.
