Andrew Kiefer
Vice President, State Government Affairs, Blue Shield of California
Andrew Kiefer is a 25-year veteran of California politics. Today, he serves as the Vice President of State Government Affairs for Blue Shield of California, with responsibility over state and local affairs and political engagement for the company. In his near 14 years with the company, Andrew played a pivotal role in most of the major health care issues in California, including the establishment of the Office of Health Care Affordability, adoption of the state’s first mandatory clinical data sharing requirements, and the advancement of milestone consumer protections that shield consumers from balance billing. Andrew also serves on Calfifornia’s Data Sharing Agreement Implementation Advisory Committee.
Prior to his tenure at Blue Shield of CA, Andrew served as a senior account director at the leading public affairs firm in Sacramento. In that position, Andrew developed comprehensive political, grassroots and communications campaigns for an array of clients across California. Additionally, Andrew served in the State Assembly and Senate, making major contributions on landmark clean energy and public safety legislation, among others.
Andrew and his wife, Christina live in Sacramento and spend most of their time as chauffeurs for their three kids.
