Ann Marie Navar, MD, PhD
Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center
Dr. Ann Marie Navar is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Population and Data Sciences at UT Southwestern Medical Center. A board-certified cardiologist, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020 and specializes in preventive cardiology. Dr. Navar earned her medical degree at Duke University and her Ph.D. in global disease epidemiology and control at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Also at Duke, she completed a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics and a fellowship in cardiology, as well as a research fellowship at the Duke Clinical Research Institute.
The author of numerous scholarly articles and a frequent invited speaker, Dr. Navar’s research interests include cardiovascular disease prevention and epidemiology, mining real-world data including information available in electronic health records, and risk prediction and communication. She serves as an associate editor of JAMA Cardiology and is a board member of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology.
