Catherine Field is Senior Vice President and Medicare Division Leader for Humana, a leading health and well-being company. Catherine oversees Humana’s Medicare HMO and PPO health plans, prescription drug plans, Medicare supplement policies, Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan and private fee-for-service health plans offered to those eligible for Medicare. Catherine leads Humana’s 25-state West Division which includes the Central, South Central, Intermountain and Pacific Southwest Regions with over 1.7M individual Medicare Advantage Part D (MAPD) members and 1,096 associates.
Catherine is a seasoned executive leader with more than 25 years of health care experience. She joined Humana in 2011 as Director of Operations for Senior Products in Washington and Oregon. Over the course of the next six years, she held several successive leadership roles overseeing Humana’s Intermountain Region, which encompassed Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Prior to Humana, Catherine was a pharmaceutical sales leader at Sanofi-Aventis, where she built successful working relationships between the company’s research and marketing teams, as well as led high-performance sales teams managing diverse portfolios.
Under Catherine’s leadership, Humana has added new Medicare Advantage plan offerings including zero-dollar premium plans, supplemental benefits such as acupuncture, telemedicine, hearing-aid coverage, flexible spending cards and value-based offerings including a Healthy Options Allowance that helps members afford necessities like groceries. Catherine has also been instrumental in the expansion of Humana’s value-based provider relationships, focused on providing easy access and care coordination for Humana Medicare Advantage members. Key partnerships include those with Iora Health in Seattle, with Longevity Health Plan to introduce institutional Special Needs Plans (ISNP) in select markets across the U.S. and The Vancouver Clinic.
Catherine’s expert leadership and operational knowledge has bolstered Humana’s integrated health growth strategy focused on members using CenterWell primary care clinics, mail order and home health services. Catherine serves as a mentor to many and is a vocal advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives. She is the 2020 recipient of the annual Beth Bierbower Legacy Award in recognition of her empowering women to advance in their careers through advocacy, mentoring, and sponsorship.
Catherine holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Washington’s Michael G. Foster School of Business in Seattle.
She resides in Gig Harbor, Washington, with her husband, Phil. In her free time, Catherine enjoys sailing with Phil in Puget Sound, skiing, and visiting her daughter in California.
