Dr. Ed Lee is a practicing primary care physician with over two decades of healthcare technology expertise. He graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree and master's in public health. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency at the University of California Davis Medical Center. Following his training, he joined Kaiser Permanente (KP) and The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG) where he spent the next 20 years spearheading transformative initiatives in informatics, healthcare technology, and innovation, serving in several pivotal positions, including Medical Director of The Technology Group, Associate Executive Director for TPMG, and Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for The Permanente Federation.
His leadership efforts had wide-spread influence across the organization, leading to improvements in care delivery for 12+ million KP members and 23,000+ Permanente physicians, through large strategic initiatives that included the development of new telehealth platforms, expansion of digital health technologies, and creation of AI programs.
Dr. Lee recently joined two new organizations. The first being California Northstate University College of Medicine, an up-and-coming medical school located near Sacramento, California, serving as the Director of Clinical Informatics and Chair of Clinical Education. The other is Nabla, an innovative startup company who are the developers of Nabla Copilot; the leading AI documentation application in the marketplace. As their Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Lee ensures Nabla Copilot aligns with the needs of the tens of thousands of clinicians using the product today.
