James serves as the business leader for Johns Hopkins Health Plans (JHHP), a community-based health plan and solutions organization headquartered in Maryland. JHHP is comprised of health plans serving Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, military families and retirees, and employers, along with a health solutions business and venture investments. JHHP serves members across 6 states in the Mid-Atlantic region and Florida and offers a national provider network for some plans. JHHP is a regional leader in value-based care, health plan quality, and health analytics.
Before joining Johns Hopkins Medicine, James was CEO of the Alliance Business at Elevance Health. He also held leadership roles at Amerigroup and WellCare Health Plans. Earlier in his career, James served as a U.S. Navy pilot.
James earned an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Economics from the U.S. Naval Academy. He and his wife have been married for over 25 years and have two daughters in college.
