Dr. Nina Birnbaum joined Blue Shield of California in 2021 as the Medical Director for Health Transformation Acceleration where she oversees new and impactful ways to improve the healthcare system, particularly for virtual care. As a practicing primary care physician with over 20 years’ experience, she is passionate about quality whole-person care and the opportunity to use new technologies to remove old barriers and build a better healthcare experience.
Dr. Birnbaum earned her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed residency training at UCSF/San Francisco General Hospital.
