Robert Reed
President & CEO, Physicians Mutual Insurance Company
Rob Reed began serving as President & Chief Executive Officer of Physicians Mutual in January of 2015. He is the fifth individual to hold this position in the company’s 114 year history. Previously, he was the firm’s Chief Operating Officer. Reed has also been a member of the company’s Board of Directors since 2005. Reed started with the Company full-time in 1989.
Reed graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University. He also holds a Master of Management degree from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He holds numerous insurance industry designations, including the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL), all awarded by the American College.
Reed is active on national boards including the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). Reed is also active in the community, having served as a volunteer on boards such as the American Red Cross – Heartland Chapter, Camp Fire USA (now Completely Kids), Heartland Family Service, Metropolitan YMCA, and the Jesuit Partnership Council of Omaha. He was vice-chair of the United Way of the Midlands annual fund drive in 2007 and a division chair in 2011. He was chair of the Community Health Charities board of directors from 2011 until 2013. He was appointed a Knights of Aksarben Governor in 2016 and was a Councillor from 2007-2016. Currently, he is a board member, executive committee member and investment committee chair for the Omaha Symphony. Also, he serves on the boards of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce and the Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart. He is active in his parish, St. Robert Bellarmine, as a lector and volunteer. He and his wife, Stacie, have five children ranging in age from 23 to 15.
