Romy Hussain, MBA

Vice President of Data, Analytics, and Machine Learning, Cohere Health

Romy serves as Cohere’s VP of Data & Machine Learning leading the data organization, which includes data management, data science, machine learning/AI, and business intelligence. Prior to joining Cohere, Romy worked at Optum Labs (UnitedHealthcare R&D), where she was responsible for AI/ML development, engineering, and clinical analytics/informatics. She was recruited to UHG to work on clinical next best action recommendation systems, work for which she holds 7 patents.

Prior to UHG, Romy was the chief economist and head of data science at Johns Hopkins Medicine, where her team managed descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics across both the provider and payer. She also worked at Oscar Health, Yale New-Haven Health system, and the City Economist of San Francisco.

She was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, holds an engineering degree from UC Berkeley, a Masters in the history and philosophy of art from Cambridge University, and an MBA from Yale.
