Sameer Amin, MD

Chief Medical Officer, L.A. Care Health Plan

Dr. Sameer Amin is Chief Medical Officer at L.A. Care Health Plan. He is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and initiatives to ensure quality health care delivery to the health plan's more than 2.7 million members – some of the most vulnerable in the county. Dr. Amin oversees the medical leadership of the organization and focuses on enhancing health care access and the quality of care provided through contracted plans and providers.


Prior to joining L.A. Care, Dr. Amin served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Oscar, where he was responsible for implementing clinical capabilities and enhancing the quality of care and outcomes for its members. Previously, Dr. Amin served as the Regional Chief Medical Officer of the Western U.S. for CareMore Health, an Anthem subsidiary. He also held multiple national roles for CareMore, including National Director of Specialty Medicine, and he was a clinical leader at HealthCare Partners where he oversaw specialty care for more than 90,000 patients.

Dr. Amin received his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and he completed his residencies and fellowships in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital (a Harvard Medical School Teaching Hospital), Cedars Sinai Medical Center, and University of California, Los Angeles respectively.
