Sandrine Pirard, MD, PhD, MPH
West Region Chief Medical Officer, Carelon Behavioral Health
Dr. Pirard has been a member of the Carelon Behavioral Health medical team since 2017. She currently serves as Regional Chief Medical Officer for external clients in California, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Kansas as well as crisis, EAP, and Carelon Behavioral Care. Prior to this position she was the VP Medical Director for the Connecticut Behavioral Health Partnership (CTBHP).
Dr. Pirard completed her postgraduate training at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School and is board-certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine. She has held clinical positions at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and the University of Maryland College Health Center. She has also worked for the US Department of Human and Health Services (HHS) at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).
Dr. Pirard has been actively engaged in various initiatives to address the opioid crisis nationwide and has presented and published on the topic of addiction nationally and internationally.
