AHIP Comments on the proposed rule on Special Registrations for Telemedicine and Limited State Telemedicine Registrations, published in the Federal Register on January 17, 2025.
Overview
AHIP supports increasing access to medications prescribed via virtual interactions, with appropriate guardrails. Affordable, accessible medications help promote and maintain health and well-being. Experience has demonstrated that telemedicine is an important part of the health care delivery continuum. Telemedicine’s value as a modality is supported by recent data showing it is a cost-effective, convenient means of delivering high quality care. Telemedicine can expand access to care, especially for rural populations where there is limited access to in-person care, and reduces barriers such as transportation, childcare, and time needed off from work.
