AHIP Submits Comments on Medicaid and CHIP Managed Care Proposed Rule

On January 14, 2019, AHIP submitted a comment letter to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on a proposed rule aimed at streamlining the regulatory framework for managed care in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Our letter expresses appreciation for the Administration’s efforts to increase flexibility, reduce administrative burden, and ensure the Medicaid program’s ongoing ability to serve beneficiaries. We also voice strong concerns with several proposed changes to rate setting standards that would be inconsistent with statutory actuarial soundness requirements.
