Resource Details

The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is a partnership program between the federal and state/territorial governments that provides coverage for more than eight million low income children in all 50 states, Washington DC and U.S. territories. CHIP was designed to provide health insurance coverage for children in families that have too much income to qualify for Medicaid but do not have access to affordable health insurance coverage. CHIP is permanently authorized, but funding expires on September 30, 2017.
