About This Webinar

Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death in the US, with 2022 setting a record for deaths due to CVD at close to 1 million. LDL-cholesterol is a major modifiable cardiovascular risk factor which continues to be poorly controlled, despite the availability of many safe and effective treatment options, including many which are available as inexpensive, generic medications. Contemporary analyses from multiple large databases and registries indicate that <30% of high-risk Americans have their LDL-C adequately controlled.

In 2022, we launched the GOAL initiative to improve awareness, treatment, and control of LDL-C in high-risk Americans, including those with FH and/or established cardiovascular disease. This webinar is a continuation of those efforts and builds on a successful webinar held in December 2023.

Family Heart Foundation has examined the state of LDL-C control among 38M Americans at high risk for CVD. This session will explore insights from that analysis and propose potential solutions to prioritize LDL control and improve patient outcomes.

The Family Heart Database is comprised of diagnostic/procedural /prescription data from claims and/or laboratory data for >324 million individuals in the US from 2012 to 2022 and we have presented novel insights on LDL-cholesterol management and associated outcomes at multiple conferences in 2023 and 2024, including the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy. This session will focus on a major modifiable risk factor for the leading cause of death in America and offer potential solutions to improve outcomes for patients.

Attendees Will Learn About

  • Current societal burden of cardiovascular disease and the poor state of LDL-C control in high-risk individuals
  • Latest treatment guidelines and options for the management of LDL-C, a major modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease
  • Details of an innovative program involving member awareness and provider outreach that helps improve guideline-based care with lipid-lowering therapies.
